V/A - All Star Bluegrass Celebration II

(Lickona Vision 22976-10039) 2003

V/A - All Star Bluegrass Celebration II

This DVD captures part of a show from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville Tn. on 2nd April 2003. As with the previous year's All Star Bluegrass Celebration, it's a bit of mixed bag with some Bluegrass & Americana.

Only one of Ralph's songs is included on the DVD, Girl From The Greenbriar Shore, which had been recorded on his 'solo' 2002 album DMZ/Columbia Ralph Stanley CD, and which was also promoted by the label with a video.

Ralph is also featured lining out the show's finale lining out Amazing Grace, where he not only get's the audience to stand and sing along, but also get's them holding hands...

Former CMB, Ricky Skaggs also provides two cuts - Simple Life and Crossville plus a nice impromptu duet with Vince Gill of Drifting Too Far From The Shore.

The DVD comes with PCM Stereo / Dolby Digital 5.1 options, but the menu option is a bit clunky and the track list on the DVD jacket doesn't match the order on the disc.

There also was a companion CD-R release.

  • Ralph Stanley: banjo, vocals
  • Jack Cooke: bass
  • James Price: fiddle
  • John Rigsby: mandolin
  • James Alan Shelton: lead guitar
  • Steve Sparkman: banjo
  • Ralph Stanley II: guitar
