Ralph Stanley
16 Jan 1982 - Tampa, FL. (43 years ago)

Ralph was billed as appearing at the 'Bluegrass Concert' at Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida.

Other acts included: Big Timber Bluegrass, Sawgrass, and Beaumont Family.

16 Jan 1986 - Culman, AL. (39 years ago)

Ralph was listed as appearing at the Cullman Civic Center, in Cullman, Alabama. Also on the bill were the Sullivan Family, and Bull City Bluegrass.

Stanley Brothers
15 - 16 Jan 1961 - Fifth recording session for King (64 years ago)

At this two day session the Stanley's cut 19 tracks, many of which appeared on the LP Sing The Songs They Like Best (King KLP-772) Nov 1961. Two singles were issued prior to the album:-

  • The Window Up Above / The Wild Side Of Life (King 5460) Jan 1961
  • I'd Worship You / I'll Take The Blame (King 5518) Jun 1961

Four tracks from the session were held back for release until the LP Award Winners At The Folk Song Festival (King KLP-791) Mar 1962, whilst I'll Just Go Away wasn't released until it was coupled with Highway Ambush (aka Midnight Ramble) in Dec. 1969 (King 6236).

Meanwhile, You're Still To Blame remained in the can until the Old Homestead reissue of The Remarkable Stanley Brothers Play And Sing Bluegrass Songs For You (Old Homestead OHCS-323) 1986, and versions of Big Tilda and Steel Guitar Rag stayed in the can until the 4×CD set The Early Starday/King Years, 1958-1961.
