This is a follow up to The Stanley Tradition: Tribute To A Bluegrass Legacy CD, with more or less the same crew involved. It is perhaps not quite up to the standard of it's predecessor, but nonetheless is still quite a decent tribute to the Stanley's, and features CMB's Charlie Sizemore, Ernie Thacker, James Alan Shelton... plus honorary CMB James King.
The other vocals are handled by top drawer bluegrasser's Dan Tyminski, Junior Sisk, Scottie Sparks who all sing two songs, plus Ronnie Bowman who contributes one.
Musically, it too features more or less the same crack team and is a very well produced CD with first class perfomances. I guess maybe, because the Stanley's were immersed in Gospel singing together right from infants, their sacred harmony singing is much harder to match than their secular material. Still this is a fine album, and hat's off to Tim Austin and the gang for introducing fans of the newer contemporary bluegrass to the Stanley's catalogue.
I just wish they had better CD covers!
