(Mercury 70437) Aug 1954
This single was listed as a new release in the 21st Aug 1954 edition of 'Billboard' and was featured in an advert the following month.
Ralph's Dickenson County Breakdown was his first banjo tune to be recorded, and judging by the number of live/radio versions, was often used in brief form to open and close their shows. The tune was named after their home county, but Mercury misspelt it on the the label...
Poison Lies is another of Carter's classic troubled love songs.
Both side of the single can now be found on The Complete Mercury Recordings 2xCD set.
