This CD by multi-platinum "country" band Alabama rather suprisingly includes a neat version of I Am The Man Thomas featuring Ralph and the CMB's. The song sticks out like a sore thumb in what is otherwise a very middle-of-the-road bland country gospel album (or at least to my ear - your mileage may vary).
The CMB's involvement was recorded at Maggard Sound Studios in Big Gap, Va. and features:
- Ralph Stanley: lead vocals
- Dewey Brown: fiddle
- James Alan Shelton: guitar
- Steve Sparkman: banjo
- Nathan Stanley: mandolin
Alabama (Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook) then provide somewhat limited/unobtrusive harmony vocals, and there's also an unidentified bass.
Isaacs fans will also take note that another track I Need Thee includes guest vocals by Ben Isaacs / Sonya Isaacs and Rebecca Isaacs-Bowman.
To be honest I find the album a bit difficult to listen to, but the version of I Am The Man Thomas is well worth seeking out.
