The Stanley Brothers - The Early Starday/King Years, 1958-1961

(King/Starday KBSCD-7000) (Long box) 1993. Reissued in Jewel Case (Gusto GT7-2207-2) 2011

This is another essential collection, which along with The King Years 1961-1965, compiles all the Stanley Brothers recordings for King and Starday, in the latter part of their career.

The set was originally issued as a 4xCD 'long box' with a 22-page booklet, with detailed notes and rare colour photo's. It's subsequently been reissued in a 4xCD jewel case, with a 32-page booklet.

The songs are sequenced in the order in which they were recorded, and as they've been taken from the masters, the sound quality is superb. There are also four unreleased tracks - versions of Rank Stranger, You're Still To Blame and the instrumentals Steel Guitar Rag & Big Tilda, along with the undubbed/dubbed versions of Daybreak In Dixie & Finger Poppin' Time.
