(Columbia 20647) 1949
This was the fourth of the Stanley's singles for Columbia recorded at their first session for the label on 01 Mar 1949. Featuring two of Carter's orginals, it was listed in the 17 Dec 1949 edition of Billboard magazine under their 'Advance Folk (Country & Western) Record Release' section.[1]
A Vision Of Mother is a fine three-part harmony piece, with gorgeous lyrics by Carter as he reminisces about childhood. Have You Someone (In Heaven Awaiting) meanwhile is a excellent duet by Carter & Ralph.
Ralph later re-cut A Vision Of Mother in 1992 with Judy Marshall / Alison Krauss on his Saturday Night / Sunday Morning 2xCD set. Have You Someone (In Heaven Awaiting) was also re-recorded by Ralph & Joe Isaacs on their 1995 CD A Gospel Gathering.
Both sides of the single can be found on The Complete Columbia Stanley Brothers CD.
