Please rate this album:

After Kenneth Davis left the CMB's in 1995 he met up with Steve Edwards (of Appalachian Trail) and formed The Scott County Boys.

This is their 3rd release, which was issued as a CD-R, and is notable for a large chunk of 'Stanley' material and also features future CMB, Mitchell Van Dyke on 'Stanley style' 5-string.

Two of the 'not-so-obviously-Stanley' songs on the album were also featured on the Shadows Of The Past collection of live Stanley Brothers material: Just Another Broken Heart, which The Stanleys performed in modified form compared to The Carter Family; and Thinking Of The Old Days which was written by Carter Stanley and given to Bill Clifton, who recorded it as Are You Alone.[1]

All three of The Scott County Boys' albums are available as digital downloads from their website, where they also be streamed for free.

  • Kenneth Davis: lead vocal, lead & rhythm guitar
  • David Edwards: bass, mandolin, baritone vocal (*)
  • Steve Edwards: fiddle, tenor vocals
  • Mitchell Van Dyke: banjo
  • Tolley Fleming: bass (**)

NB: (*) guitar on Sweet Laurie. (**) bass on Sharecropper's Son, Why Did You Have To Go and Home In The Mountain.
