(Copper Creek CCCD-0172) 1999
This is a second CD of mostly cross-picked guitar, that was recorded at Ticknock Studio, Lenoir, NC. Like the earlier Cross Picking release, George plays both guitar and bass, with no other instrumentation. It is probably the better of the two albums, with a wider song selection, better sound quality and longer playing time.
All the tracks feature George's trademark 'cross-picked' guitar method, except for the classic Freight Train which is finger-picked.
The album comes with liner notes by Gary Reid, which reveal that Miller's Cave, was a number George used to play at Stanley Brother's shows. In the early '60s it was a hit for Hank Snow.
The one original tune, Give The World A Sunny Smile had previously been recorded by The Shuffler Family on their second Rebel gospel album 'Give The World A Sunny Smile' (Rebel SLP-1563) c1976/77.
Overall this is quite a pleasant album to listen to...
