(Columbia 20697) May 1950
Another two of Carter's beautifully sad songs, on their sixth Columbia single.
'Billboard' magazine reviewed the disc in their 27th May 1950 edition, giving both sides an overall score of 66. Too Late To Cry was described as "Deep hillbilly harmony team sobs an effective, but territorally limited torcher" while I Love No One But You was said to be "Effectively authentic back-country rendition of some fairly routine material."[1]
Ralph later re-recorded both songs on his Reunion: Featuring George Shuffler & James King CD, and I Love No One But You with Charlie Sizemore on the Saturday Night / Saturday Night / Sunday Morning release.
Both sides of the single can be found on The Complete Columbia Stanley Brothers CD.
PS: This is another one I don't have, so if anyone can provide better images of the labels, please get in touch via the Contact page - thanks!
