(King 5441) Jan 1961
This 7" couples The Angel Of Death from the Hymns And Sacred Songs LP and Jordan from the For The Good People.
'Billboard' magazine reviewed the disc in their 30th Jan 1961 edition giving both songs 3-stars and describing Angel Of Death briefly as:- "Brothers wail with sincerity on moving weeper." and Jordan as:- "Boys warble with feeling on reverent country sacred item". [1]
Both sides of the 7" can now be found on The Early Starday/King Years, 1958-1961 4xCD box set.
For a detailed breakdown and background to the Stanley's sessions (including more accurate info on the origin of Jordan), check Gary B. Reid's The Music Of The Stanley Brothers book, 94-95, 102-105, 140-141 and 143-144.
