From the liner notes:- "For the past twenty years, the small Colorado mining town of Telluride has served as a repository of many musical riches. Though the festival long ago departed the confines of traditional bluegrass to embrace the celebration of all music, the festival still reflects the same sense of adventure which gave birth to that music known as 'bluegrass'"

Hmm... Well, to my ears this is mostly mediocre rock, pop & soul music... but there are still one or two good cuts.

Strange Rangers' play a Jimmi Hendrix parody, Purple Hay, which is pretty funny (catch it on youtube for the full experience) and there's a decent a cappella recording of Children Go Where I Send Thee by Ralph and the CMB's....

Although there's no date given for the recording, I believe the festival took place 18-21 June 1992.

  • Ralph Stanley: banjo, vocal
  • Jnr Blankenship: lead guitar
  • Curly Ray Cline: fiddle
  • Jack Cooke: bass
  • Ernie Thacker: guitar, vocal
