(No Label No #) 2015
During James Price's tenure in the CMB's he would often be featured on Ralph's shows doing a comedy spot with music/vocal impersonations of people like Johnny Cash, Lester Flatt etc. On this CD, James reprises his vocal/guitar mimicry on The Martha White Theme and several other classics drawn from the repertoire's of Flatt & Scruggs / Bill Monroe.
According to the album review in 'Bluegrass Unlimited' (Dec. 2015) the project was the brain-child of bassist, David Bowling who had worked with Melvin Goins, Larry Sparks and James Monroe. Lead vocal duties are shared between James Price and John Keith, with Marty Raybon also singing lead on one track.
Obviously this is a project done from the heart, and it's a pretty good trad grass tribute. At times it sounds more like Flatt & Scruggs than the Earls Of Leicester...
Thanks to Steve Wisner for spotting this one!
NB: (a) lead vocal on White House Blues
