Please rate this album:

This album was recorded at 8th July 1956 at Shipp's Park, Morrisville Va., about a month after the Edinburg, Va. show which is featured on the Stanley Series, Vol. 2 No. 1 album. The performance is once again excellent, with plenty of Chubby Anthony's exemplary bluegrass fiddle work, especially on the super-hot Katy Hill.

Some of the tracks have previously appeared on Together For The Last Time, The Legendary Stanley Brothers Recorded Live, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. The sound quality seems to be much better on this Stanley Series release.

Alhough much of the dialogue wasn't recorded, this is still an excellent album.

Many of the tracks included don't appear to have been recorded in the studio by the Stanleys, ie:- Rovin' Gambler, Katy Hill, Boil Them Cabbage Down, Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms, and Wait A Little Longer Please Jesus.

  • Carter Stanley: guitar, vocal
  • Ralph Stanley: banjo, vocal
  • Chubby Anthony: fiddle
  • Curley Lambert: mandolin
  • Lindy Clear: bass
