This album, featuring James Alan Shelton and Dewey Brown, was recorded at two sessions, on 4th and 18th March 2006 at Castle Recording, Castelwood, Va.

Jarrod, while perhaps not quite in the same league as Steve Sparkman, is nonetheless an excellent 'Stanley style' banjo picker, and for aficionados of Ralph's style, this CD-R is pretty delightful.

According to the liner notes, Jarrod is from Birchleaf in Dickenson County, Va. He had previously filled in on occasion with Ralph, even performing at the Grand Old Opry, and in 2010 was briefly a full-time CMB inbetween Steve Sparkman and Mitchell Van Dyke.

The album features a dozen of Ralph's banjo instrumentals, played on a left-handed 50th anniversary Stanleytone banjo,[1] plus a medley of Ralph's breaks from Wild Bill Jones/Little Maggie and Pretty Polly (The Doctor's Medley)

In more recent years Jarrod has played with Sammy Adkins & The Sandy Hook Mountain Boys, the Scott County Boys (with former CMB Kenneth Davis), and c2024 with Nathan Stanley.

  • Jarrod Church: banjo
  • Dewey Brown: fiddle
  • Al Domingue: bass
  • James Alan Shelton: guitar

[1] There are thought to be only 2 left handed Stanleytones. Gary Bates (aka Stanleytone) has a 40th anniversary one and Jarrod's 50th anniversary is the other. https://www.banjohangout.org/photo/50547
