This 23:56 minute CD is a compilation features just ten tracks drawn mostly from the '70s with three cuts from 1996's Short Life Of Trouble - Songs Of Grayson And Whitter.
It definitely flows better than it's companion Vol. 1 CD, but is still pretty poor value, even at a budget price. As an introduction to Ralph Stanley, I think it also falls down, as it doesn't include any details of where the material comes from.
The previous Classic Bluegrass or Bound To Ride CD compilations are much better value for anyone wanting to get a sample of Ralph's work at his best.
The cover art for the CD recycles photo of Ralph from his Gospel While The Ages Roll On from 2000. The picture on the CD tray, I'm 99% sure, was taken at the 1st Country Gentlmen festival at Indian Ranch, Webster, MA, June 25-27th 1971.
