Recorded on the 28-29th Jan 1963, this album was overdubbed with fake applause in an attempt to make it sound like a live recording... My copy, which is a Japanese reissue, sounds like the sound has also been altered to give the impression of being recorded in a large venue, rather than a studio.

The The King Years, 1961-1965 box set, which has all the tracks in the order they were recorded sans applause, and without any alteration sounds much more like a studio performance.

Two singles were released around the time of the album: Old And In The Way / Six Months Ain't Long (King 5732) in Mar 1963; and He Went To Sleep And The Hogs Ate Him / Lips That Lie (King 5763) in Aug 1963. Two additonal singles wereo released in 1967:- Little Birdie / Whiskey (King 6079) in Feb; and I Don't Want Your Rambling Letters / Hills Of Roan County (King 6089) in April.

The album was possibly also issued in Japan (London MJ 170) and reissued (Gusto SK-834) 197?, and again in Japan with lyric sheet (Victor Musical Industries VIP-5046(M)) 1978.
