(Pine Tree PT-106) c1971
This 45 looks like it was recorded in between Larry's Ramblin' Guitar and New Gospel Songs albums.
The 'A' side, Bottle Of Brandy, was written by Joe Isaacs and has a melody somewhat influenced by Bill Monroe's The Old Old House. You can hear it on youtube.
The 'B' side, Mantle Of Green by Osburn Thorpe also draws inspiration musically from Pretty Polly and lyrically from John Riley. (For more info on Osburn see The Bluegrass Sound Of...)
Both sides of the 45 were later included on the Joe Isaacs - 'The Greenbriar Years' LP (Old Homestead OHCS-115) c1981. According to the liner notes to this album, Larry plays guitar and mandolin, and from listening to it, I'd guess he plays lead guitar on Bottle... and mandolin on Mantle.... Both songs also includes some fiddle work, but that isn't credited.
