Nathan was just twelve when he recorded this solo debut at Maggard Sound in Big Stone Gap, Va, in 2005. Featuring backing by the Clinch Mountain Boys, it is mostly instrumental, with Ralph singing and playing on Nine Pound Hammer and Nathan singing lead on Dream Of A Miner's Child and Somebody Loves You Darlin'.

Nathan's vocals sound surprisingly mature, and while his mandolin work is quite basic, it's still pretty good for a twelve year old!

The title cut Sandy Ridge was co-written by Nathan and James Alan Shelton, before a concert in Berkeley, California, and was performed as a showcase number by Nathan at the time.[1]

Nathan also wrote Papaw's Mule and Drew's Tune.

(a) lead vocal on tracks 6 and 10.
(b) on track (3) only.
