(Old Homestead OHS-90116) 1980
This is a posthumous reissue of Chubby's first album which was originally released as Tall Timber Bluegrass - The Best Of Bluegrass in 1976.
Tall Timber Bluegrass were put together in 1974 and Chubby worked with them until he formed Big Timber in Feb. 1978.[1]
Overall, this album is let down a bit by fairly average vocals, although instrumentally there is some good banjo and mandolin... Chubby too is in fine form, particulary on the two instrumentals: Tall Timber and Chubby's Ride.
Huskie's Fiddle is a song Chubby wrote about Ray Huskie from North Carolina, who was one of the people who taught him how to play the fiddle. A version overdubbed with drums and backing vocals later cropped up on Chubby Anthony's Last Tribute.
