The Stanley Brothers - Eight Classic Albums Plus Bonus Singles

(Reel To Reel RTRCD-114) 2019

This is repackaged budget reissue of the dodgy Eight Class Albums 4-CD set.

Disc One features Country Pickin And Singin' and The Stanley Brothers And The Clinch Mountain Boys (aka King 615); Disc Two includes Hymns And Sacred Songs and Mountain Song Favorites (but with the sides reversed); Disc Three has Sacred Songs From The Hills and Sing Everybody's Country Favorites; and Disc Four has For The Good People and In Person (minus the three tracks that are duplicated on Sing Everybody's Country Favorites (Sweet Thing and It's Raining Here This Morning) and The Stanley Brothers And The Clinch Mountain Boys (How Mountain Girls Can Love)).

From the incorrect track sequencing of Trust Each Other and Gonna Paint The Town (originally from Mountain Song Favorites), it seems that the source material wasn't from original LPs. The sequence of tracks on the CD follows the original LP sleeve, which wrongly lists Trust Each Other before Gonna Paint The Town... rather than what is actually on the vinyl/label.

There are no liner notes, nor indication of the original releases... So probably best instead to seek out copies of The Complete Mercury Recordings, The Early Starday/King Years, 1958-1961, and The King Years, 1961-1965 CD's.

This release comes housed in a 4-fold digi-pak, which doesn't really hold the discs in place very well...
