The Stanley Brothers - The Angels Are Singing

(Columbia Harmony HL-7377 (mono) / HS-11177 (stereo)) Jun 1966

Angels Are Singing (Stereo)
Rear Cover Side 1 (Stereo) Side 2 (Stereo) Front Cover (Mono)

This was the second album to appear featuring material from The Stanley Brothers years at Columbia. All of the songs had previously been released on singles, but there was no duplication of tracks with the earlier The Stanley Brothers LP.

I'm not sure whether the 'Electronically re-channeled for stereo' version was released at the same time, or later... but the idea of creating a fake stereo sound out of a mono recording is pretty naff.

The 'Harmony' label was a budget imprint of Columbia, that specialised in reissued material.[1]

All 22 of the songs The Stanley Brothers recorded for Columbia can now be found on The Complete Columbia Stanley Brothers CD.

For detailed information on these songs / sessions, check Gary B. Reid's The Music Of The Stanley Brothers book, pages 23-30, 32-33, and 36-38.
