Please rate this album:

This gospel compilation was licensed by Starday from King Records and Wayne Raney, who ran Rimrock.

As far as I can tell, it was the first appearance of the recordings of Amazing Grace, Hold To God's Unchanging Hand, Precious Memories and Are You Washed In The Blood, which are from Wayne Raney's session in December 1965, and which ultimately resulted in the An Empty Mansion and A Beautiful Life albums.

A letter to DJ's sent out on the 27th Feb 1967,[1] shows that at the time of the Rimrock session, the Stanleys were between recording contracts with King, and says:- "Starday is supplying and distributing SLP-384, the new gospel release by The Stanleys but they are slightly behind in their pressing. RIMROCK 200, one side exclusive material recorded by The Stanleys between contracts, is also available."

From Carter and Ralph's attire, particularly their ties, it looks like the cover is taken from the same photo session/church location as the 1962 Good Old Camp Meeting Songs cover.[2]

The album was also mentioned in a "Cashbox" article on Starday's "Country Music Goes To Town" sales plan which took place between 1st Aug - 8th Oct 1966. The album was scheduled for "Phase two" of the plan, which in total saw the release of 16 country albums on the label. Also listed in the schedule was The Stanley's Famous Song Hits LP.[3]

Thanks to Gary Reid for the updated release date and 'Cashbook' information.
