The Stanley Brothers - I See Through You / Don't Cheat In Our Home Town

(King 5869) Mar 1964

I See Through You

This 7" couples I See Through You, which had been recorded on the 20th Jul 1961 session for the Award Winners At The Folk Song Festival LP but was previously unreleased, and Don't Cheat In Our Home Town from the Stanley's Country Folk Music Spotlight LP.

A few months after the single, I See Through You was also included on the The Remarkable Stanley Brothers Play And Sing Bluegrass Songs For You album.

I See Through You is a humourous number which as a lawyer, Charlie Sizemore appropriately resurrected for his 'Congratulations' debut solo album in 1985, with Ralph singing tenor. The Stanley's also performed the song at the 16th Oct 1966 Bean Blossom show, later featured on the Brown County Jamboree/Stanley Series, Vol. 1 No. 4 albums, with Carter concluding "Wilbur calls that the 'X-Ray' song."

Don't Cheat In Our Home Town was also featured on the Keith Whitley & Ricky Skaggs - Second Generation Bluegrass album.

Both sides of the single can be found on The King Years, 1961-1965 4xCD box set.

PS: If anyone can supply images of the blue 'stock' labels for this 45, please get in touch via the Contact page - thanks!
